About me
I am a yoga therapist (MS, C-IAYT) and a lover of all things movement.
My path started with injury and pain. My injuries as a dancer led me to pursue a movement career oriented towards therapeutics and rehabilitation to support others experiencing chronic pain. I have an Ellie Herman Pilates certification and over 1000 hours of continuing education in anatomy, functional movement, corrective exercise, breath work and meditation. I have completed an advanced yoga certificate with Annie Carpenter and a Masters of Science in Yoga Therapy through the Maryland Institute of Integrative Health.
As a lifelong student, I have had the privilege and honor of studying with great teachers and healers. Throughout my studies I have had the great privilege of training and mentoring with master teachers such as Annie Carpenter and Greg Burdulis, and a plethora of physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists (including Dr. Denise Small, DPT, Dr. William Walsh, DC, and Dr. Jena Blackwood, DPT). I have studied extensively with practitioners of Alexander technique, Iyengar yoga, and Feldenkrais method. I am experienced with yoga therapeutics and pilates for injury management and prevention, pain disorders, inflammatory and auto-immune conditions, spinal conditions, pelvic health, and pre- and post-natal care. I am also experienced in breathwork and meditation to self-support mental health via nervous system regulation, cultivating a greater capacity to focus, be aware and stay present.
My approach is to empower you, the client. I believe in the individual’s inner wisdom and our innate ability to heal ourselves, sometimes with a little support and a guiding hand.
My daily practice is how I heal and find joy.
My personal practice started out as a means to get out of physical pain and to support my physical therapy at the time. Then my practice turned into a safe haven from the emotional stressors that life inevitably brings; a way to cultivate nervous system resilience. Now my practice is all those things and more — it’s a way to connect to myself, my true Self, so that I can connect to others and serve my community.
